Skincare Do's & Don'ts For Spring

Email |
|
By jacquelineluxe • March 26, 2012

Are you giving your skin the tender loving care that it really needs? We all know that sleeping in your makeup, improper hydration and smoking are all bad influences to our skin. So here is our insiders guide for keeping your skin in tip top shape!

"Do" drink plenty of water

Getting in plenty of H2O is one of the most important things to keep your skin plump and healthy. Not only does it flush out toxins and keep your cells replenished. A healthy complexion is one that is well hydrated for the advantages of staying young. Whether you drink bottled or filtered water, there is no myth to 8 glasses a day. It is also said that proper hydration with water allows the skin to maintain its elasticity and suppleness.

"Don't" smoke

It is a well known fact that smoking is bad for you. Smoking over time can cause a variety of diseases, including lung cancer. But smoking can also wreak havoc on your skin. People who smoke are more likely to develop premature aging with wrinkles and lines. Especially around the eyes, forehead, cheeks and upper lip. Why? Well the nicotine from the smoke effects capillaries in the face, which as a result effects the oxygen that your skin gets.

And if that's not enough to make you quit, clinical studies have shown smokers to look 10 years older then non-smokers.

"Do" exfoliate your skin

Keeping your skin looking fresh and beautiful for Spring is a must. With the winter clear behind us, it's time to exfoliate all those skin cells that can make your face look dull and sluggish. Not only will your face look brighter and fresher, it is also great for your makeup.

You can purchase a gentle skin exfoliate from your local cosmetics store. Be sure that it also has moisturisers and Vitamin E to heal your skin as well.

"Don't" sleep in your makeup

Now come on ladies we all know this is a bad idea! Having a long day at work with a night out on the town is no excuse. Sleeping in your makeup is bad for many reasons. Eye makeup especially if left on while sleeping, can cause infections. Rubbing against your pillow all night long can lead to pushing mascara deeper into your eyes. And thus resulting in infection. And foundation, if left on can lead to further break-outs and acne blemishes.

Sleeping is the body's way to heal, so any type of foreign product such as makeup. Can lead to further dermatological problems then it's worth.

Keep it really simple and easy with makeup removing wipes, then cleanse, tone and moisturise as usual. That way you are giving your skin the tender loving care that it really needs.

Beauty And iPad Technology Has Finally Met It's Match With L’Oréal True Match Foundation Make-Up

By jacquelineluxe • March 13, 2012

Beauty has finally met it's match, with the beautiful and easy technology of the iPad and iPhone with L’Oréal's True Match Matchmaker App. This most sophisticated of cosmetic technologies, is truly innovative and can now sit precisely in the palm of your hand.

You can effectively match your skin tone and foundation superbly with L’Oréal's MatchMaker by True Match. So no more messing around at the store, with several foundations in hand and seeing which one matches your skin tone on your wrist!

Steps 1 through 10 - It's that easy to find your True Match Foundation

Through a series of focused questions, the MatchMaker by True Match will personally consult which shade suits you best. From your own unique undertone, hair and eye color, if you tan easily or not. To if your skin tone illuminates better with gold, silver or both. For myself personally I am a dark brunette, brown eyed gal that looks fabulous in silver and gold and gets a great tan, So let's see what's next!

With the comprehensive diagnostic questionnaire, the color matching tool then identifies your L’Oréal True Match shade. This also provides insight into what tones look best on your skin and what celebrities share your tone. My foundation true match was Natural Beige W4 - who I handsomely shared with style icon Jennifer Lopez.

The store locator on the app also provides a local map on where to easily find your L’Oréal True Match in the local area. True Match Foundation can be found at Ulta, Target, Walmart, Sears, and Amazon.com.

L’Oréal True Match Foundation - Beautifully blends with Ultimate Sophistication

L’Oréal's True Match is a super-blendable foundation that glides fantastically over your skin. It's smooth to the touch, with a light and airy texture that is truly undeniable. The foundation can be applied easily and lightly with clean fingers. Or for a more airbrushed look - use a foundation brush for superior coverage. I found that is suited me perfectly - and gave me the clean and light coverage that I expect from a liquid foundation.

30 Different Shades - To make your True Match!

With over 30 different shades, L’Oréal has truly created a ‘True Match’ iPhone app to make your search even easier. And yes once you have found your true match...you will never look back at another foundation. So with that said - I found my True Match Foundation!

True Match Matchmaker App allows you to find your precise True Match shade by determining your unique undertone and depth through a series of focused questions. Once you find your True Match shade you will be able to use the store locator feature to see which stores carry your shade as well as see who your celebrity undertone match is and get other product recommendations based on your unique shade!

The Beauty Diet Starts From Within: Food And Drinks To Keep Your Skin, Hair & Nails Gleaming & Healthy

Email |
|
By jacquelineluxe • March 6, 2012

Does healthy skin start from the outside or from within? Or is it a combination of both? They say you are what you eat - an age old tale that does in fact speak volumes to us. Pairing your beauty regimen with the best skincare lotions and creams is essential, but also as we all know is a great diet. But it is key ingredients that are the true factor towards better skin, hair and nails.

Vitamin C rich fruits are a collagen booster

Yes even though Vitamin C is so widely used almost in our everyday foods, it is truly one of the key ingredients that can keep your skin looking healthy and youthful. Vitamin C is a  natural collagen booster, and helps in retaining your skin’s elasticity and suppleness, so that you can celebrate youthful skin throughout your life. Citrus fruits are the most popular, such as oranges and lemons.

But create a bowl of fruit packed with water melons and blueberries. And now you have got an antioxidant packed treat. The antioxidants and phytochemicals in blueberries neutralize DNA-damaging free radicals, reducing cell damage. Blueberries are also an excellent source of vitamin C, manganese, vitamin E and riboflavin.

Gorgeous Hair begins with lean proteins

Beautiful long and lustrous hair primarily needs protein for it to be healthy and strong. A diet rich in plenty of lean meats, beans, lentils and milk adds to the essential b-complexes for great hair. Increasing your intake of beta carotene rich foods such as spinach and carrots will not only add shine to your hair, but also to beautifully sparkling eyes.

Green leafy vegetables, sesame seeds and dry figs have opulent calcium to make your nails strong. Also include minerals such as silicon to prevent dull and brittle nails. Foods high in silicon are apples, peanuts and almonds.

Have you had your milk today?

To keep your pearly whites sparkling, you need to brush twice daily but to keep them strong and healthy; your diet plays a vital role. Include plenty of dairy products such as milk, cheese and yogurt.  If you cannot tolerate dairy produce, then try substituting with rice or soy milk enhanced with vitamins and calcium - are a great substitute. These calcium rich foods keep your teeth strong and prevent tooth decay. Ensure these nutrients are well absorbed by drinking plenty of water. Also, remember not to skip healthy fats such as those from fish, lean meat, nuts and butter.

Packing it all in for healthy skin

All nutrients essential for healthy skin are found in strawberries, citrus fruits, red peppers, and broccoli. This beauty benefit: Vitamin C, are plentiful in this produce. And it is vital for the production and formation of collagen - the skin's support structure. And a strong support layer helps smooth what's on top and prevent wrinkles in the future.

Water to fruit juice - just chug it down

Skin cells contain mostly water, and if you're dehydrated, skin will look and feel parched too. Aim to drink 6-8 cups of water a day to simply ward off dehydration. As well as dryness of the skin to keep it soft and supple. Prefer juice throughout the day? Then get all your vitamins and hydration in one with your favorite fruit juice of your choice. This essential combination of daily hydration is certainly the key element to your best skin yet.
