Launching for April 2009 is the 1940s PF Flyers SportShu, re-created with exceptional craftsmanship by the PF Flyers team in Japan. The elegant, minimalist vintage pattern of the SportShu is an ideal showcase of rigorous Japanese quality and precision.
Manufactured in Japan using premium vintage grade materials, the SportShu is an archival reissue of the PF Flyers baseball classic first introduced in 1940. The shoe, available in original black and natural features contrast stitching
detail, finely patterned rubber foxing, 40s-era PF logo markings and leather eyerow. Only 500 pair of each colorway will be produced.

“The SportShu is a true classic; a style from authentic PF Flyers heritage that extends back more than sixty years,” stated Jun Yamazumi, brand manager for PF Flyers in Japan. “The SportShu is a smart, sophisticated, authentic high top that epitomizes iconic American baseball tradition, a genuine look that is extremely appealing to both the Japanese and US markets right now.”
Most notable, according to Yamazumi, were efforts to recreate the SportShu’s original outsole- a process of extensive trial and error. Because the original, intricately contoured SportShu outsole was created from a traditional 40s-era PF mold, the SportShu reissue required sculpting a new calendar sole unit to accurately reproduce the silhouette’s vintage look and feel.
This premier addition to PF’s Archival Reissues collection will be sold exclusively by the world’s finest retailers including Fred Segal, DDCLAB and El Kartel among others for $160.00 USD.
