EMPORIO ARMANI MENSWEAR Autumn/Winter 2009

A thought, a sensation, a green emotion. A relaxed mood that is in no way nostalgic for another time and another place, but is instead created by a projected vision of nature moving into the city, a synthesis of vistas and horizons where gardens clamber up buildings, generating panoramic views of a vertical landscape.

This world encompasses all of the facets of green, in a palette that merges into grey, darkens into black, picks up the brown of tree trunks and bare earth, and includes soft touches of white. The colors and materials create the image of winter warmth: not just because of the layering and quilting, but also because of the actual quality of the wool.

A touch of class for a young man who has no wish to exploit his own youth in order to shock. Presented as a quest for and a return to a quality of life in which the background hubbub and frantic pace of modern living melt away, this eco-style of fashion revives the use of jersey and velvet that has been chosen for a new type of fleece.

Even leather has been treated as a fabric, at times with the added impact of sleeves in chunky knit, with positively no techno or lazered motifs.

Today's Men: PF FLYERS Rissues The 1940 Sportshu, Made In Japan

Launching for April 2009 is the 1940s PF Flyers SportShu, re-created with exceptional craftsmanship by the PF Flyers team in Japan. The elegant, minimalist vintage pattern of the SportShu is an ideal showcase of rigorous Japanese quality and precision.

Manufactured in Japan using premium vintage grade materials, the SportShu is an archival reissue of the PF Flyers baseball classic first introduced in 1940. The shoe, available in original black and natural features contrast stitching
detail, finely patterned rubber foxing, 40s-era PF logo markings and leather eyerow. Only 500 pair of each colorway will be produced.

“The SportShu is a true classic; a style from authentic PF Flyers heritage that extends back more than sixty years,” stated Jun Yamazumi, brand manager for PF Flyers in Japan. “The SportShu is a smart, sophisticated, authentic high top that epitomizes iconic American baseball tradition, a genuine look that is extremely appealing to both the Japanese and US markets right now.”

Most notable, according to Yamazumi, were efforts to recreate the SportShu’s original outsole- a process of extensive trial and error. Because the original, intricately contoured SportShu outsole was created from a traditional 40s-era PF mold, the SportShu reissue required sculpting a new calendar sole unit to accurately reproduce the silhouette’s vintage look and feel.

This premier addition to PF’s Archival Reissues collection will be sold exclusively by the world’s finest retailers including Fred Segal, DDCLAB and El Kartel among others for $160.00 USD.

To dress without a watch these days is almost an impossible feet. Gentleman need to accessorize also. Especially to complement everyday wear, business meetings, active wear, and casual dress.

Here I review some of the top lines for the gentleman in your life, or for the man himself.

A. Lange & Söhne Grand Saxonia

A. Lange & Söhne Grand Saxonia

A. Lange and Söhne was founded in 1845. Since then, though, Lange has produced some rather excellent watches. The Grand Saxonia does have its own feature, of a 'zero reset' mechanism. And the movement visible behind the sapphire-crystal case-back is as beautiful as it is effective.

Cartier Santos-Dumont

Cartier Santos-Dumont

With sword-shaped hands and oversize Roman numerals. The Cartier Santos-Dumont (my personal favorite) is one of the first modern wristwatches. A brown dial gives the latest edition a contemporary feel, which lend the watch a "masculine" look. Contemporary meets with a modern classic. For the world class traveler and business man alike.

Patek Philippe Calatrava 5119

Patek Philippe Calatrava 5119

Patek is the oldest family-owned firm in Geneva, and this is its signature model. The company is one of the few that makes all its own components, from bracelets to movements, and each watch has the Geneva Seal.

Montblanc Star XXL Automatic

Montblanc Star XXL Automatic

Montblanc is a newcomer to watchmaking. The XXL's classic-looking design is given a touch of class by the textured center section and the subtle blue of the hands. The 42-hour power reserve will get you to those big meetings on time every day.
